Kris Peterson

General Manager

Kris Peterson is the General Manager of Pine Hall. A Southern California native raised in Michigan, Kris found his calling in hospitality behind the bar in his hometown. From 2000 to 2004, he honed his craft in Wolfgang Puck's Cafes throughout the Los Angeles area, where a foundation in beverage grew into a broader passion for restaurant operations and training.

After earning a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Western Michigan University, Kris moved to Chicago, where hospitality and storytelling converged. In 2017, he joined the opening team of Mordecai at Hotel Zachary as Assistant General Manager and Spirits Archivist, channeling his writer's sensibility into creating a narrative-driven cocktail menu. He rose steadily through Folkart Hospitality Group to become a multi-unit General Manager, overseeing Mordecai, Billy Sunday, and Lucky Door.

After more than a decade in Chicago, Kris returned to Michigan, drawn by Detroit's emerging restaurant scene. As General Manager of Book Tower, a restored Detroit landmark, Kris led operations across six restaurants and bars within the historic building.

In 2026, Kris joined Union Square Hospitality Group as General Manager of Pine Hall — the group's first concept in Detroit. He is focused on cultivating emerging talent, deepening ties within Detroit's hospitality community, and crafting experiences that resonate with locals and visitors alike.
